The Royal Oak

In 1972, Audemars Piguet released a luxury watch made of steel. Designed by Gérald Genta, it had an octagonal bezel held by eight exposed screws and a bracelet that flowed straight out of the case. It was a risk, and it ended up defining the luxury sports watch. Steel Royal Oaks are now some of the hardest watches in the world to buy new.

The Royal Oak Offshore

Launched in 1993, the Offshore took the Royal Oak and made it bigger and bolder: chronographs, rubber straps, ceramic and carbon cases.

Code 11.59

AP's newest collection, launched in 2019. A round case with an octagonal middle section and a curved crystal.

Questions

Why are Royal Oaks so hard to buy new?

Audemars Piguet makes a limited number each year, and demand is far higher than supply. Buying pre-owned means you don't have to wait.

Is Audemars Piguet still family-owned?

Yes. It is one of the few major Swiss watchmakers still owned by its founding families, Audemars and Piguet, who started the company in 1875.

Do you buy Audemars Piguet watches?

Yes. Send us the details through our Sell Your Watch page or bring it to 22 Russell Place.
